This is a work photographed on a Japanese paper shoe box created as a collaboration between Yoshihisa Tanaka, a graphic designer and artist who also works as the artist duo Nerhol, and TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance.
Normally, when photographing sneaker products, the sneaker is placed on top of the box, but by placing the box on top of the sneaker, the relationship is reversed. It can be said that this work shows Gottingham’s point of view, in which he creates with an awareness of structurally turning over and twisting the stories of his subjects and collaborators.

グラフィックデザイナーでありアーティストデュオNerholとしても活動する田中義久と、TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balanceの共同研究として作られた和紙のシューズボックスを撮影した作品である。
通常、スニーカーの商品撮影を行う場合は箱の上にスニーカーを載せるが、スニーカーの上に箱を載せることで関係性を逆転させている。被写体やコラボレーターのストーリーを構造的にひっくり返したり、捻ったりする意識を持って制作を行うゴッティンガムの視点が現れている作品であると言える。
